Our Independent Auditing Firm examined all Entries and has chosen Demetrios Matheou as the winner of IA's 2025/26 3K Go For The Gold $3,000 scholarship based on his outstanding academics, essay scores, and incredible accomplishments. Demetrios Matheou is the winner of IA’s 2025/26 3K Go for the Gold Scholarship. Demetrios has never earned less than an A and is a National Merit Commended Scholar. He was the second student in Cleveland Saint Ignatius High School’s history to take AP Calculus BC as a freshman, earning a top score of 5. Despite facing a battle with brain cancer at age 11, Demetrios remained committed to his education, completing sixth grade on time during treatment and later excelling in high school. He also earned a varsity letter in crew and led his school’s first Robotics team as captain and lead robot driver.
